DJI Matrice 350 RTK Global Launch: A New Flagship Upgrade, New Heights in the Industry

(May 18, 2023, Shenzhen).  DJI has officially released the latest industry drone platform, the Matrice 350 RTK (hereinafter referred to as the M350 RTK), which is the first comprehensive upgrade since the release of the same model as the M300 RTK three years ago. With a new video transmission system and control experience, a more efficient battery system, and a variety of payloads, it is currently DJI’s flagship flight platform with the strongest performance and largest load in the industry, and it is also the culmination of solving the complex aerial work needs of industry users.

“We believe that the new flagship M350 RTK can solve more complex and diverse operational problems for frontline workers in the industry, and continue to be a reliable and reliable tool for efficient and stable air productivity,” said Zhang Xiaonan, Senior Director of Corporate Strategy at DJI. ”

Better performance and new heights for flagships

The M350 RTK continues the design concept of the previous generation, and the flight performance remains the same as the flagship. Up to 55 minutes[1] of battery life, a maximum altitude of 7,000 meters, and a maximum wind resistance of 12 m/s. The M350 RTK supports IP55[2] protection in the unfolded state (IP54 in the folded state) and can operate in ambient temperatures from -20°C to 50°C. The aircraft and sensor system also adopts redundant design, with six-way binocular vision and infrared sensing functions, which can avoid obstacles in all directions. When paired with millimeter-wave radar [3], it can effectively detect small obstacles within 30 meters, further improving the safety level. In addition, the M350 RTK has added a new arm detection function to prevent users from operating the arm sleeve incorrectly, making flying more secure.

The M350 RTK airframe flight camera has excellent night vision capabilities, and can clearly show the surrounding environment and obstacles when working at night. With the intelligent dot positioning function, the operation is more secure.

The battery system has been upgraded to make the operation more secure

The M350 RTK comes standard with a DJI RC Plus remote controller, which supports dual control mode, with a battery life of up to 6 hours and a maximum video transmission range of 20[4] km. Working together with 4G networks [5], it can help the flight platform better cope with signal occlusion in complex environments such as urban buildings and mountainous areas. The remote controller comes with a large 7-inch high-brightness screen for clear sunlight images, a variety of buttons and dials, support for a variety of custom shortcut modes, and DJI Pilot 2 flight software, so you can see the mission type and flight status at a glance, and the user operation is more convenient.

The M350 RTK battery is the highlight of this upgrade. The M350 RTK is equipped with the new TB65 dual battery system, which supports battery thermal swapping, so that the battery can still be recycled regardless of the cold and heat, and it is easy to achieve multiple uninterrupted flights. At the same time, the battery can be charged and discharged up to 400 times [6], which further reduces the cost of battery use per flight. The new BS65 smart battery box features a new universal wheel design for easy transportation and transfer, providing a one-stop solution for battery charging, storage and transportation. It has multiple charging modes, with the option of storage or standby mode to determine the charge percentage to maximize battery life. In addition, when the battery box is connected to the remote controller, the DJI Pilot 2 flight software visualizes the battery status and health performance.

The M350 RTK can quickly replace the battery without shutting down, and can be used with the fast-charging charging case for uninterrupted operation, and with the advanced dual control mode, users in different industries can achieve more efficient and intelligent collaborative work.

Exclusive intelligent functions continue to empower the industry

Up to now, the DJI Matrice series of drones has played a valuable role in many fields such as energy, surveying and mapping, emergency rescue, and environmental monitoring, thanks to the unique and powerful intelligent functions of the Matrice series platform. The all-new M350 RTK will continue to solve the growing operational needs of industry users in complex scenarios.

In the field of surveying and mapping, the M350 RTK supports a variety of routes, and with the functions of terrain-following flight and intelligent swing shooting, it can efficiently collect data, and cooperate with DJI Terra software to quickly obtain high-definition 2D and 3D digital results, greatly improving the automation and informatization level of surveying and mapping work.

In the field of public safety, the M350 RTK can achieve air-ground collaboration with functions such as high-precision dot positioning and real-time mapping in the cloud. With DJI SkyAir 2, on-site modeling can be completed quickly, and command information can be transmitted to the flight platform and ground operators.

In the field of power grid and energy inspection, the M350 RTK can generate inspection routes through online task recording, realize automatic operations, reduce repetitive inspection work, and improve inspection efficiency. When using the precision reshooting function, it supports automatic framing and manual adjustment of shooting targets to improve the accuracy of repeated shooting and improve the quality of inspection operations.

Powerful load ecology for a win-win situation

The M350 RTK supports a single gimbal, dual gimbal, and e-port interface, and can carry up to four loads at the same time, providing reliable support for the industry application ecosystem. According to different job requirements, it can be used with DJI’s self-developed load Zenmuse H20 series, H20N, P1, L1, etc., to efficiently complete aerial operations. At the same time, the abundant SDK open interfaces can also help more fields achieve application innovation. Previously, third-party PSDK payloads customized based on the M300 RTK platform can continue to be integrated with the new flagship platform, allowing drone applications to penetrate into business scenarios. In addition, the M350 RTK upgrades the original OSDK interface to the E-Port interface and provides an E-Port development kit that can be purchased separately. The E-Port interface supports PSDK V3, allowing developers to use a set of software and hardware interfaces to start personalized load development projects, greatly reducing entry barriers and maintenance costs, and improving R&D efficiency.

Today, DJI has more than 100,000 registered SDK developers worldwide, and has released more than 1,000 applications based on MSDK and more than 200 third-party payloads based on PSDK. DJI has always adhered to the concept of “open ecosystem and win-win cooperation”, and works with developers around the world to provide users with convenient, efficient, safe and reliable technologies and services, so that drone technology can play a greater role in society.
