DJI World Headquarters “DJI Sky City” was inaugurated
(September 2022.) 26DJI Sky City, DJI’s global headquarters in Nanshan District, Shenzhen, has completed the construction and officially opened this month.

DJI Sky City took 6 years to build, the project covers an area of 17,600 square meters, with a total construction area of about 240,000 square meters. Created by Foster + Partners, one of the world’s
Lord Norman Foster, Founder and Executive Chairman of Foster Architects, said: “Drone technology is the epitome of cutting-edge technology that is changing the way we interact with the world. I’ve always loved DJI’s products and I’m excited to work with DJI to build their new headquarters in Shenzhen, where I’m sure there will be more ideas in the future.” ”

As the world’s first asymmetrical suspended steel supertall building with a height of more than 200 meters, DJI Sky City integrates office, R&D, testing, and urban public facilities, and consists of two super high-rise towers (40 floors in the west tower and 44 floors in the east towerlayers) and are connected by a steel suspension bridge that is as light as a feather.

Each tower relies on the core tube, and through the extended steel structure, six huge “glass blocks” are hung outward, and the east and west towers have a total of 12 “”. The glass mass” is staggered, resulting in a unique “asymmetrical cantilever” steelStructural system. The staggered glass blocks shape the differences of each building’s façade, forming an asymmetrical aesthetic; The all-steel structure is exposed, and at night, the building’s floodlit design strengthens the structure of the building, showing the honest and simple beauty to the fullest.

DJI Sky City creates a variety of natural green spaces in the landscape hierarchy with varying elevations by creating landscape spaces such as the ground floor landscape, podium garden, bridge mirrored water landscape, sky garden, and roof garden.
The building’s cantilevered design frees up more floor space. Sky City extends the landscape green space beyond the plot, and after extension, the total landscape area is 27,000 square meters, which is about 1.6 times the area of DJI Sky City. The roof garden of the podium is better integrated with the surrounding urban greenery, providing more green leisure space for citizens and employees, so that the building can be integrated into urban life. The podium also houses urban public facilities, including a community health center, for the convenience of the surrounding citizens.

“This is a space designed for DJI, which is rich in expression and flexible from the inside out. It goes beyond the concept of the traditional office environment to build a new office community in the air that combines practicality, beauty and creativity.
On the ground floor of the east and west towers, there are two independent facades made of natural stone hanging panels to form a solid façade, which is also the “castle” part of the castle in the sky. Walking into the semi-open lobby from the bottom of the podium, you will see a simple black pine, with the shape of dry landscape water and the rammed earth wall with natural texture, which perfectly combines natural Zen and technology, making it more tranquil and pure.

The asymmetrical cantilevered design of DJI Sky City is designed to make each space column-free and provide maximum flexibility. Each “vitreous mass” has 8 to 14Floors of office space, each floor of office spaceThe 270-degree glass curtain wall surrounds the design to bring plenty of natural light into the office space and provide employees with a better view. The internal office furniture also adopts a series of ergonomic designs such as liftable and retractable to bring a better office experience to employees. The column-free office space can also meet more office and leisure needs, such as aerial test space, sky garden, etc.

“It took us six years to build this city in the sky, and it’s the result of the wisdom and hard work of DJI and all of our partners. I am glad that with the official opening of the new headquarters, we can provide a cooler, more humane and higher quality working environment for colleagues. More importantly, than the upgrading of the workplace, our pursuits and dreams are being upgraded. The story of Castle in the Sky has just begun, and the future will be written by every DJI person who loves it: what we stick to, what we pursue, what we create, what kind of people we want to become, and what kind of spirit and outlook we want to face the future life. I hope that Sky City can become the spiritual home of DJI people and witness the growth of everyone. ”
